Victoria & Chris

Victoria and Chris are fun-loving, genuine people, and it was a delight to be a part of their wedding. We had a drizzly day at Matthews Manor, but Victoria & Chris still took a ride in the horse and carriage, and we did get outside for a few pictures – and of course the fun rainy ones! Chris is a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and he not only had his little brother there, he was a groomsman – I thought that was awesome! Victoria’s dance with her step-dad was fantastic as well – they went through the range of dances from slow-dancing to brick-house to sexy-and-I-know-it – definitely a reception highlight! It is always great to be at Matthews Manor, and Carlos from Total Entertainment did the lighting and music for the reception.

Sarah & Andrew

Sarah and Andrew’s wedding was de-ja-vu week #2 for us. Like me (Ari), Sarah is the oldest of 4 siblings, finishing medical school and looking toward the mission field. Andrew is calm and steady and on staff at the Church of Brook Hills. When I was in college, I thought I would get married sometime at the end of medical school to a pastor before I headed off to Africa. It seemed as if I was getting a peek of what my life would have looked like if that plan had played out – and encouraging to see a couple headed in the same direction we are. It was a wonderful, peaceful day full of laughter and rooted in faith and the powerful relationships these two have fostered with everyone around them.

We also had 3 of our former grooms and two of our brides in the wedding party, so it seemed like a meeting of old friends. . .

It was a VERY rainy day at Matthew’s Manor – fitting for Sarah’s Swahili name she was given when she was born, that means “mistress of rain”. Sarah and Andrew were awesome and braved the rain several times for some of the more epic pictures – but my favorites from the day are probably the little moments captured between the two of them and their family and friends. . .including the prayer circle that converged around them immediately after they said their vows. . .

Welcome to their wedding day. . .

Lauren & Jimmy

Lauren and Jimmy managed to pick the most beautiful day of the summer for their wedding – and 80 degree Birmingham days in August don’t come around very often. We had a fantastic day hanging out with Lauren, Jimmy, and their fantastic families and friends. The wedding was scheduled during the golden light in the beautiful fields outside Matthew’s Manor, and during the reception Lauren’s very talented family members entertained us with classic bluegrass and then Jimmy took the stage with his brothers and sisters to sing an original song Jimmy had written right for his bride right before they started dating and some Needtobreathe (which was fun for us since their drummer, Joe Stillwell, was a groomsman in our wedding).

The ceremony was at Matthews Manor and they did all the amazing flowers. Lauren’s dress was from Ivory and White – the bridal boutique in Crestline Village that orignally brought her to Birmingham, and Danny Brewer from Feel the Beat Entertainment was the DJ.
