Wendy & Andrew

Wendy and Andrew had a beautiful wedding at their family lake house at Lake Martin. Her family was involved in all the details of the day from the music to the flowers to the cafe lights on the front lawn, and Rachel of Two Hearts Weddings and Events helped mastermind bringing their vision to life. . . We always love bing outside with twinkle lights, but the little touches are what made it truly special – the bride’s cake was beautiful and the groom’s cake was insane – an exact replica of their 1970s getaway boat. The biggest surprise (at least to us) of the night was when the groom got called up to play drums with the band and blew everybody away with how talented he was playing Sweet Child of Mine (David stopped taking pictures for a second in admiration).

Wendy made a point from the minute we walked in to let us know how much she loved what we did and trusted our ability to capture her wedding – “and make art, not just photos” – as she described. We had a wonderful day rising to that invitation and challenge and can’t thank them enough for making us feel so welcome and giving us so much freedom to do just that.

Leigh & Perry

Leigh and Perry had a beautiful wedding at the Southwood House in Tallahassee. I’m happy anywhere with Spanish Moss, a beautiful bride, and a happy groom (Perry was so excited!) – it was a wonderful day! My favorite wedding band, the Negotiators, made the trip from Birmingham to rock the reception and Sheila Melton (based in Tallahassee) coordinated the wedding and she and Leigh’s uncle put in tons of work to make sure everything was perfect despite a little rain.

Sydney & Blake

We have never felt more welcome than we did walking into Sydney and Blake’s wedding last weekend – we shot Sydney’s sister Jennifer’s wedding 9 months ago (who was the new sister-in-law to Laura and Roan, the first wedding we ever shot in Birmingham) and it’s always a huge compliment to be asked into yet another important day in a family’s life. Rain threatened all day but in the end we had a beautiful, cool spring evening. The grounds of Glendalough Manor in Tyrone, GA were dripping with color (and their staff was amazing – smoothly moving the day from one place to the other).

Sydney and Blake trusted us completely and let us steal them away for night shots and shots in the rain that finally appeared 20 minutes before they left. We had an amazing evening with them and all their friends and family. . welcome to their wedding day. . .

Erica & Bret

What a perfect day. . .anytime it’s 70 degrees with beautiful weather, a great party crowd, and a beautiful venue, I’m a happy photographer. Erica’s parents are graphic designers/printers, and it was fun to watch them turn that talent toward the wedding – the details were fantastic, and they had huge canvases from the Erica’s bridal and engagement shoots up on display. Erica found her Vera Wang dress in a NYC window and had Ivory and White order it – it was pretty much spectacular. Erica was beautiful, and Bret was one of the happiest, most laid back grooms ever. One unique superstition they employed, they buried a bottle of bourbon a month before the wedding. . .it is supposed to ward off the rain, and if it doesn’t then you can drown your sorrows. It was a fun traipse into the woods to dig it up. Erica and Bret had an adventure on the way back to the Tutwiler, but we were able to grab a few shots there at the end of the night as well. . .

The venue, if you don’t already recognize it, is Rancho de las Aguilas, B&A did the catering, iidamaxx absolutely rocked (insanely talented band).

Lacey and Austin

We had a pretty much perfect day for Lacey and Austin’s wedding at American Village. It’s a dream venue, with magical golf cart drivers waiting to shuttle us around wherever there is good light. The ceremony was gorgeous, the details with burlap accents and peachy tones were perfect for the spring day, and Lacey and Austin are crazy about each other and were up for every suggestion we had for photos (and even had a few of their own).

From yellow daisy fields to golden light to light painting as they left the reception – we had trouble picking our favorites from the day for this post 🙂
