Brenna & Marc

Nearly 5 years ago, when I was starting out as a photographer, Brenna and Susan played dress-up for me – we hung a sheet on my front porch and took crazy pictures. One of those pictures made it to match.com and Marc thought this girl looked cool and unique, and the rest is history! As to the wedding itself, Brenna and her friends/family did EVERYTHING themselves – flowers, decorations, invitations, cake toppers, etc. – and it turned out amazing. Some of my favorite moments – Brenna walking down the aisle to the imperial march from Star Wars, Marc’s fedora fetish, the hilarious toasts, the impromptu dance party on the patio.

Ann & Wanaina

Ann and Charles (or Wanaina in his traditional name) celebrated with a mixture of American and Kenyan traditions. Wanaina’s family met Ann at the house, singing Amazing Grace in their own language and dancing Ann to the limo. After a traditional ceremony they jumped the broom and then were welcomed into the reception with more singing and dancing. After dinner and the traditional first dance, daddy-daughter dance, and mother son dance, they surprised us with Kenyan attire for a second first dance. Weddings are always about the merging of two people and families into one, and this day was literally the joining of two worlds!
